Caring for your Barrel Cactus

Native to the deserts of central Mexico, the Golden Barrel Cactus thrives in hot, arid climates with well-draining soil and plenty of sunlight. It can be found growing in rocky slopes and hillsides, where it has adapted to survive in harsh conditions with minimal water.

Light

Golden Barrel Cacti require plenty of bright, direct sunlight to thrive. Place your cactus in a location where it can receive at least 6-8 hours of sunlight per day, such as a south-facing window or a sunny outdoor spot. If growing indoors, consider using grow lights to supplement natural sunlight during the winter months.

Soil
